It was an extraordinary experience to have the likes of Bach, Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninov and Debussy as guests in the venerable «Zunftsaal Schmiede» in Basel… performed by the Russian pianists Alena Trushechkin-Osminkina and Alexey Trushechkin!
Christine and Ueli Sigwart-Sartorius, founders of the Fondation Jonas, have invited them. Two days before the concert, they organized a master class in Geneva with advanced students of the Fondation Jonas and Alexey Trushechkin.
The young Trushechkin couple surprised the audience in the Zunftsaal at the end of the concert with two short four-hand pieces, «hors program». Whether alone or in pairs, the virtuosity, expressiveness and joy of playing of the cheerful Trushechkin couple enchanted the audience.
Two responsible for the «Basel gyygt» project (Evangelische Stadtmission), a very similar project to that of the Fondation Jonas, were also in attendance. Christian Engels, Managing Director of Stadtmission Basel, briefly introduced «Basel gyygt»: Giving children a perspective on life through music lessons.
